Changes.

It's so amazing how... how the world changes. How the things that happen only to us... how they change the world. Through altered perceptions, and personal consequences. The lives we move away from involvement with, even our own.

It's amazing how the world changes. What we were, what we have become... what we cease to be. A future unpredictable if only because every thing we know right now... We can best hope to believe it can get better, and so cannot foresee what the bright tomorrow is those unforeseeable changes herald.

It's amazing how the world changes. We are guided by thoughts and feelings. Beliefs, facts. Logic, and irrationality. The rational knows that reality exists as it is; but the irrational perception which becomes an individual truth... that what we live is what we see. Many "facts" of life are what we interpret as truth. And our decisions... our decisions on the truth shape the world.

Such is my amazement of how the world changes. My world is not your world. Two people can have the same encounter and decide polar realities based on its outcome. It truly is remarkable... how we change the world. So as God, in His image, we may yet be.

It's amazing... how the world changes.

WoW - Iceripper

Oh, yeah, I finally broke 70 yesterday. I still don't have Wrath of the Lich King, but I'm running around on the trial right now; the frozen north is surprisingly entertaining. It's hard to beat the justice in riding a giant mammoth to trample a camp full of mammoth poachers.

Oh, and, surprise, it's Velania.

As an ENFP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system.

ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, typically very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and can become very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm lends them the ability to inspire and motivate others, more so than we see in other types. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it.

ENFPs have an unusually broad range of skills and talents. They are good at most things which interest them. Project-oriented, they may go through several different careers during their lifetime. To onlookers, the ENFP may seem directionless and without purpose, but ENFPs are actually quite consistent, in that they have a strong sense of values which they live with throughout their lives. Everything that they do must be in line with their values. An ENFP needs to feel that they are living their lives as their true Self, walking in step with what they believe is right. They see meaning in everything, and are on a continuous quest to adapt their lives and values to achieve inner peace. They're constantly aware and somewhat fearful of losing touch with themselves. Since emotional excitement is usually an important part of the ENFP's life, and because they are focused on keeping "centered", the ENFP is usually an intense individual, with highly evolved values.

An ENFP needs to focus on following through with their projects. This can be a problem area for some of these individuals. Unlike other Extraverted types, ENFPs need time alone to center themselves, and make sure they are moving in a direction which is in sync with their values. ENFPs who remain centered will usually be quite successful at their endeavors. Others may fall into the habit of dropping a project when they become excited about a new possibility, and thus they never achieve the great accomplishments which they are capable of achieving.

Most ENFPs have great people skills. They are genuinely warm and interested in people, and place great importance on their inter-personal relationships. ENFPs almost always have a strong need to be liked. Sometimes, especially at a younger age, an ENFP will tend to be "gushy" and insincere, and generally "overdo" in an effort to win acceptance. However, once an ENFP has learned to balance their need to be true to themselves with their need for acceptance, they excel at bringing out the best in others, and are typically well-liked. They have an exceptional ability to intuitively understand a person after a very short period of time, and use their intuition and flexibility to relate to others on their own level.

Because ENFPs live in the world of exciting possibilities, the details of everyday life are seen as trivial drudgery. They place no importance on detailed, maintenance-type tasks, and will frequently remain oblivous to these types of concerns. When they do have to perform these tasks, they do not enjoy themselves. This is a challenging area of life for most ENFPs, and can be frustrating for ENFP's family members.

An ENFP who has "gone wrong" may be quite manipulative - and very good it. The gift of gab which they are blessed with makes it naturally easy for them to get what they want. Most ENFPs will not abuse their abilities, because that would not jive with their value systems.

ENFPs sometimes make serious errors in judgment. They have an amazing ability to intuitively perceive the truth about a person or situation, but when they apply judgment to their perception, they may jump to the wrong conclusions.

ENFPs who have not learned to follow through may have a difficult time remaining happy in marital relationships. Always seeing the possibilities of what could be, they may become bored with what actually is. The strong sense of values will keep many ENFPs dedicated to their relationships. However, ENFPs like a little excitement in their lives, and are best matched with individuals who are comfortable with change and new experiences.

Having an ENFP parent can be a fun-filled experience, but may be stressful at times for children with strong Sensing or Judging tendancies. Such children may see the ENFP parent as inconsistent and difficult to understand, as the children are pulled along in the whirlwind life of the ENFP. Sometimes the ENFP will want to be their child's best friend, and at other times they will play the parental authoritarian. But ENFPs are always consistent in their value systems, which they will impress on their children above all else, along with a basic joy of living.

ENFPs are basically happy people. They may become unhappy when they are confined to strict schedules or mundane tasks. Consequently, ENFPs work best in situations where they have a lot of flexibility, and where they can work with people and ideas. Many go into business for themselves. They have the ability to be quite productive with little supervision, as long as they are excited about what they're doing.

Because they are so alert and sensitive, constantly scanning their environments, ENFPs often suffer from muscle tension. They have a strong need to be independent, and resist being controlled or labelled. They need to maintain control over themselves, but they do not believe in controlling others. Their dislike of dependence and suppression extends to others as well as to themselves.

ENFPs are charming, ingenuous, risk-taking, sensitive, people-oriented individuals with capabilities ranging across a broad spectrum. They have many gifts which they will use to fulfill themselves and those near them, if they are able to remain centered and master the ability of following through.

I Want to Feel Arbitrarily Important Day

A person's sexuality is as important a characteristic about them as is their race or gender.

Protip: None of the above have any relevance to the substance of a person. Be wary of defining yourself by any of these. If you can be defined by labels then you can just as easily be marginalized by them.

Rituals.

So last night, I had my seventh dinner of sushi, in these last seven days.

Yeah, you read that right.

It's an interesting thing... breaking one of the chains, tied to something seemingly so inconsequential. But the triviality of the act belies the gravity of the actual result.

Maybe I should feel terrible about not being able to keep my word; you know, we did have a huge, philosophical round and around about the point of the matter. That just because a promise becomes inconvenient, doesn't mean I am entitled to break it.

And that was the real point of it; everyone kept telling me that the person I made the promise because of was worthless now, yes, but... that wasn't the point. Hn.

I still believe in... trying to stand for something bigger, better than myself. Ideals. But maybe an ideal for the sake of having an ideal... I can't speak with any certainty.

Oh, well. Love affects us, changes us. When it leaves, it never leaves us better than we found it.

I'm not updating here much any longer... which is fine. I only started using this at the insistence of another. And, sadly, I've been using it basically because of her, even in more recent months. But... it feels like I've been outgrowing it for some time now.

Who knows; bigger and brighter things. I used to be so comforted because my life was pretty much planned out. But now, nothing's certain.

Which is good; because security is a boring concept. Comforting, yes, but... There's no adversity in comfort, only... Well, no need for that.

I don't know that I'm necessarily closing up shop here, but... well. If anyone actually wants to make a connection, make a connection. This is like any other social network; if you delude yourself you're keeping in touch, then, by all means.

Have fun, kids.

Martin Luther King

"I say to you, this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren’t fit to live.

You may be 38 years old, as I happen to be, and one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls upon you to stand for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause. And you refuse to do it because you are afraid.

You refuse to do it because you want to live longer. You’re afraid that you will lose your job, or you are afraid that you will be criticized or that you will lose your popularity, or you’re afraid that somebody will stab or shoot or bomb your house. So you refuse to take a stand.

Well, you may go on and live until you are ninety, but you are just as dead at 38 as you would be at ninety.

And the cessation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit.

You died when you refused to stand up for right.

You died when you refused to stand up for truth.

You died when you refused to stand up for justice.”

Sometimes I wonder... have I died... or am I waiting for the chance to prove I live..?

Runs in my head ever since stumbling on it off a link on Troperville. From the mid-90s PC game Total Distortion, about a video producer who goes to an alien dimension to produce music videos of the scenery and inhabitants to make his Fame and Fortune (you can choose to aim for one or the other, and in death, you can even get fame; or, you can go all out for both).

Part of the 'Nonstandard Game Over' trope. Thought Wikipedia was bad in eating time through its links? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Tropes

So, you know how I do something horrible, and it seems like I can't make it any worse, and I do? Well, I did.

hailz dear rumgrok good day to thee

The above, I just heard, verbatim, on an RP server for WoW. It's just the most recent of many similar examples.

I mean... on one hand, it's great that these people are trying to actually roleplay. But...

I don't know; it terrifies me to think there will come a time, in my life, when plurality can be denoted with 'z' as well as 's'. But, I guess 'z' didn't have a lot going on for it anyway.

Don't even get me started on the use of "thee". Ye Olde Anglican is not the way I wish to stumble through my fantasy experience.

Peace.

Maybe it's finally over...

Maybe we can all have some peace.

There will always be regrets... but sometimes, evil has to be committed for a greater good. Selfish acts...

Part of me will always dream of that future, where we were all friends. But human nature doesn't seem... humanity always gets in the way of the ideal.

Well, maybe I'll be able to move on now. The final severance has been made. It seems like it's finally over. Not the best ending; but an apology, well... too much to hope for. Maybe even too much to ask.

Anyway. I don't know what's to come of this place now. If it'll stand or... what.

Be seeing you.

Fixing 4E.

So, it's clear 4E has some problems for... "advanced" players. More specifically, it's really built around the idea that you have no clue what you're doing.

And yes, it really is MMORPGgy; the core mechanics are built around grinding levels, and even though "skill challenges" are a great mechanic, their use is... minimal, due to the, well, gross over-simplification of the skill system.

So. First thing's first. There's some fixing needed. From a quick read-through of the PHB, here's my initial conclusions:

1. Craft and Profession are restored; for now, using the same rules as 3.5 for their execution. When you create a character, they receive one Craft and one related Profession (as determined by DM) skill as trained. (I'd like to take the time to relate these later, but they should be pretty easy to do. Such as Profession: Sailor and Craft: basketweaving for a fisherman.) Yes, with this in mind, they could be collapsed into a single skill called "Job" or somesuch, in keeping with the simplification, but I'd need to review the relationships more first; off the top of my head, I can easily see multiple Craft skills relatable to a single Profession, and so you'd still need to delineate on your character sheet what you craft, anyway. Bears more review.

It may not necessarily be unbalanced to use the old Dragon article that lumps a lot of Profession and Craft skills into blocks called "careers", to more match the old 2E Proficiency system, but... I'm not a big fan of giving a whole lot for free that can have some real benefit.

2. Alignment is restored. Why? Because "On a scale from one to five, do you like being good? Strongly Disagree-Strongly Agree" is no way to shape the moral absolutes of a cosmology.

More to come, when I actually have time to review in-depth. Really... the whole idea is to fix what you can do during your down-time and just... add some more depth to every facet. Stop the grind more game.
